How to make a cup of milo with hard chocolate at the top.

  Term 3 Week 6

Daily writing tasks.

Every day room 12 has different writing tasks, today room 12's writing was to write a recipe for a food or a instruction manual for making something. This is my one.

How to make a cup of milo with hard chocolate at the top.

Ingredients: Milo powder, Milk.

Equipment: tea spoon, microwave, cup( don't use a plastic or glass cup).

  1.  Pour the milk in the cup( only fill up half the cup).

  2.  Pour milo so that three quarters of the cup is full.

  3.  Put the cup in the microwave for 30 seconds.

  4.  When the thirty seconds is over, wait two seconds and put the cup in the microwave for another 30 seconds.

  5. When it's over take the cup out of the microwave and check if the hard chocolate has formed if the hard chocolate formed then there you have it it's done.

  6.  If the hard chocolate hasn't formed then add some more milo and make sure not to make the cup full to the top.

  7. After doing that, put it into the microwave for 30 seconds and then it's done.

  1. Kia ora Raeed,

I've never had this type of milo and you've inspired me to make one. I really like your instructions as you used a format that's easy to follow (numbered steps with materials). I also like how specific you were e.g. don't use plastic cup...etc. Instructional writing usually has adverbs - I wonder where you can place an adverb?

Looking forward to future blog posts,

  3. Kia Ora Raeed. When I was living in Singapore milo was my favourite drink growing up. I'm guessing thats the same for you if you have a staple milo recipe! I've never thought about using the microwave to make milo so this will be a nice new milo recipe to add to my list. I noticed that you used a lot of different bossy action verbs in the beginning of each step, keep it up! I also like how your grammar was on point, because you made sure fullstops were at the end of each sentence and commas were where they needed to be. I wonder if you could give specific instructions as to how much milo powder you might be using in your ingredients list.

  4. Hi Raeed,
Wow! That's got a lot of milo in that drink. I must admit I have never had milo like this but I might have to give it ago. Excellent instruction and by all the chatter you can see it was a great choice.

I noticed you have used very clear instructions to make your special milo. I have never heard of having milo like that before. I am sure my grandchildren would love to have it like that when they are next over. I wonder if perhaps next time you could include a photo of what you are making so everyone could see what it looked like when made.

I look forward to reading your next blog.
